I’m sure every one of us already experienced watching a show on television or tuning in to our favorite radio station to listen to our favorite hits. For us, media is already part of our everyday routine. We won’t survive a day without tuning in to either the television or the radio for us to be updated for the latest news and entertainment. But did we ever wonder how these radio stations work just so we can listen to our favorite songs? Or how the people behind our favorite television shows work off cam just so they can give us entertainment? We’ve found the answers to these questions when we had our group visit in a radio station particularly am and fm and to a television show. The feeling of excitement and amazement that we felt as we visit each station was really exceptional. I considered it as one of my most favorite activity in my college years. J

SHOWTIME
We first had Showtime as our television station visit. Even if the show will not start until 10:30am, we were already asked to go there by 8:30am. While we were outside the ABS-CBN building, the feeling of excitement can be felt to each and every one of us. It is truly recognizable that even I can’t hold the feeling of excitement that I was feeling that time. To be honest, it’s my first time to visit such tv station and it’s also my first time to watch a t.v show that is why I had mixed emotions while I was there waiting.
When we were already inside the studio, the hosts entertained us while we’re waiting for the time to start the show. They first made us sing and they also made us dance. They made us release our inner energy that it’s as if it’s already overflowing. There are a lot of cameras in the studio so that they can get every angle that they need when on air that is why we were really excited to be spotted by the camera. As they show was about to go on air, people off cam became more pressured and more bothered. They’re as fast as a mouse when working at the backstage of the studio and when making signals to each and every hosts and participants in the show. The hosts on air have either a manila paper where they read the scripts that they need and sometimes, they have a projector that slides all the script that they should deliver. We really had a lot of fun even if it’s very exhausting. We got a chance to see and take some pictures with the stars like Billy Crawford, Jugs and Teddy, and especially Vice Ganda. J

LOVE RADIO |
When we went to MBC to have our studio tour, we were toured to all the radio stations there but our target station is 90.7 love radio. We were surprised when we saw that the booth for love radio was only occupied by 1 DJ. That time “Missy Hista” was the dj on board. When we asked her why is she alone in the booth, she said that one person can already supervise and hold a show on air. Everything inside the booth were already operated by buttons so it’s easier for the DJs to supervise the program on their own. When we were interviewing her, She told us that to be a dj, you have to be super playful in portraying your character. You have to set a very lively mood so that they can attract more listeners . We were amazed when she started on air. How she was very different from the time that we were talking to her to the time when she’s already on air. She's totally different. But it’s totally impressive.
We even got a chance to take a picture with Papa Jack, the most famous dj of love radio. I notice that most of the djs of the fm stations where bubbly and lively also off board. Maybe it’s one characteristic that I recognize on those DJs. Be bubbly as bubbly as possible :)![]() |

kuya Germs at DZBB |
Our last stop for our visit was GMA’s AM station DZBB. I personally chose this AM station for I knew that Mike Enriquez and Joel Reyes Zobel , two of the news anchors that I admire the most. We had our studio tour last Friday, September 23, 2011 and we can say that we really enjoyed our tour here at DZBB.
When we went to the station of DZBB, we saw Kuya Germs on board as the anchor of DZBB.. We were so happy because they were so warm to us. One thing that I noticed with the difference of am and an fm station is that in am, there is no less than 2persons inside the booth unlike in fm, the dj can stay by himself/herself inside the booth. They told us it is because when they’re reporting, especially of it’s a live broadcast, the anchor needs an assistant to get all the flash reports to be announced on air.
We also got a chance to interview 4 of the writers of the Imbestigador sa DZBB and they gave us some advices about their track. They said that, “In media, you have to be dedicated.” We even met Mr. Joel Reyes Zobel, my idol. he’s such a great news anchor and also very dedicated to his work. Dedication is the key to effective public service. In AM station, you need to have goals to update the mass about the latest news that’s happening in our country. Every staff in the AM station booth is paying attention to every news that they’ll get. Everything should be fair that’s what they aim for.
Because of these experiences, I became more excited about the challenges that I will face in my later years in Mass Communication. These tours taught me a lot about media. It also gave me the view of what I wanted to take in the future. I'm still convinced to take up Broadcasting Journalism as my Minor Track for i know this is what i will love to do and i know being in the tv station is more challenging that the radio station..I really want to be a broadcaster and i want to be an instrument of change for everybody. I can feel that Mass Communication is really the course for me and I will strive hard to continue this journey until I can reach my goal.
